Terms of Use
Last updated: July 2, 2026
By using VanSolarCalc you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
What VanSolarCalc is
VanSolarCalc is a free educational tool that estimates the size and cost of an off-grid solar electrical system for a camper van or RV. It applies standard engineering formulas to the inputs you provide and presents the results for your own planning.
Safety disclaimer — read this
VanSolarCalc provides estimates for planning only. It is not professional engineering advice and is not a substitute for a qualified electrician or installer. High-current DC systems can cause fire, injury, or death if built incorrectly. You are responsible for verifying every component rating, fuse, wire gauge, and connection against the manufacturer's specifications and the applicable codes and standards for your vehicle and jurisdiction, and for having your build inspected where required. Always fuse each positive conductor at its source.
No warranty
The tool is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Component prices, product availability, and standards change, and results may contain errors. The cost estimate is an illustrative range, not a quote.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VanSolarCalc and its operators are not liable for any damages — including property damage, injury, or financial loss — arising from your use of the site or from decisions made based on its output. You use the results at your own risk.
Acceptable use
You may use VanSolarCalc for personal and commercial build planning. You may not scrape, resell, or misrepresent the tool as your own service, or use it in any unlawful way.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time; the date above shows the latest version. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
