Privacy Policy

VanSolarCalc is built to be private by default. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect or sell personal information. This page explains exactly what happens with your data.

Your calculations stay in your browser

The calculator runs entirely on your device. The appliances, locations, and settings you enter are processed in your browser and are never sent to us. When you share a build, the numbers are encoded into the link itself (in the URL) — we do not store that link or its contents on any server.

Local storage

We use your browser's local storage for one thing: remembering whether you prefer light or dark mode. This never leaves your device and contains no personal data. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. It is privacy-first: it does not use cookies, does not fingerprint you, and does not track you across other sites. We see counts and trends, not individuals.

Advertising

This site carries advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure those ads, and in some regions to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This is how the site pays for itself; the calculator stays free and no result it gives you is influenced by an advertiser.

You can control or switch off personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and review how Google handles data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Opting out of personalisation does not remove ads; it makes them non-personalised.

Cookies

VanSolarCalc itself sets no tracking cookies — the only storage we set is the theme preference described above. The Google AdSense advertising described in the previous section does set cookies, which you can manage through your browser settings or the Google Ads Settings link above.

Third parties

The site is served through Cloudflare, which may process request metadata (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site, as any web host does. The PDF parts list is generated in your browser when you click the button; no server is involved. We embed Google AdSense for advertising, as described above, and use Google Tag Manager for aggregate analytics. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run ads inside the admin area.

Children

VanSolarCalc is a technical tool for adults planning a vehicle build and is not directed at children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above. Material changes will be reflected here on this page.
